One Week in Paris — July 2026
I arrived in Paris intending simply to look. This was meant to be a holiday, not a photography trip.
Of course, I couldn't resist making photographs, but that wasn't the purpose. The real intention was to spend time with paintings, wander the streets, and enjoy the city without an agenda.
These images are the result of long, hot summer days spent exploring the Bourse de Commerce, the Louvre, the Picasso Museum, David Zwirner, the Palais Garnier, and countless streets in between. My ongoing project photographing doors inevitably continued as well.
There were two contemporary painters whose work I particularly wanted to see: Michael Borremans and Victor Man. Everything else felt like a bonus, though no visit to Paris would be complete without returning to the old and modern masters—Picasso, Goya, Velázquez, David, Rembrandt, Zurbarán, Georges de La Tour, Vermeer, and many others.
These photographs are less a record of places visited than of a week spent looking, slowing down, and allowing art and the city to shape the days.
